About SOS Meadowbrook

Bordered by the communities of Cote Saint Luc, Montreal West and Lachine, Meadowbrook is 57 hectares of natural beauty and precious history. More specifically, it is the story of our native settlements and of the evolution of our urban forests.

There is clear and growing evidence that the Mohawks used the Meadowbrook lands as a place to hunt, fish and gather. The native species of trees such as the Hackberry, Burr Oak and Shagbark and Bitternut  Hickory, suggest Native American habitation. And the Little St. Pierre River - which still runs through the golf course, was the highway or trail of the Native peoples. This vast green space is still home to the hickory trees, which can be seen growing along the banks of the Little St. Pierre River.

Meadowbrook is a true test case of the City of Montreal’s commitment to saving the island’s green spaces. For the history, for the trees, for the biodiversity which it represents, save Meadowbrook and keep our urban forest alive.
