dear mayor Tremblay

i am a 15 year old boy in grade ten going to lower canada college.A community service project that my school has us do is to deliver a speech representing a local grass roots organization. The winner of the project in the grade will be given 5000$ do donate to the charity of their choice and i have chosen friendsofmeadowbrooke.org. i seriously think i have a good shot At winning this. if i do i plan on raising an additional 5000$. All i want is to keep my favourite place to walk my dog, cross country ski and enjoy the peace of montreal few remaining nature spots.

[...] 1. Email Montreal Mayor Tremblay: The most important thing you can do to help is to tell the mayor that you support saving Meadowbrook. The easiest way to do this is to email Montreal Mayor Tremblay and copy Claude Dauphin (Borough Mayor of Lachine) at the following email addresses. Need inspiration? View sample letters here. [...]

A nature park with walking trails would be great and a man-made lake like the one in Dollard des Ormeaux would be spectacular. Most importantly, a road (and a bridge)would need to be created to access this area from the Hwy 20 / Lachine area. Otherwise this park remains in a corner of Montreal that nobody except local residents frequent.

The possibilities are absolutely amazing of what could be done with this site. I would recommend the planting of selective species of native plants, trees, and bushes, which would provide food and habit specifically to attract birds. I refer here to the excellent book on the subject, "A Garden of Birds" by André Dion. Such a site would draw amateur and professional birder alike from all around the region.

The Summit in Westmount is a beautiful example of a green space in an urban setting. A scenic and peaceful bird and animal sanctuary, it has picturesque winding paths where people can stroll with or without their dogs. If Meadowbrook could become a similar nature retreat, it would create an oasis for the many people who live on the west end of the island.

I would like to see a suspended footbridge the length of the St-Jacques escarpment that would allow people to hike and observe nature. Here is an example this one in Vancouver: http://lh6.ggpht.com/_1UT-e2B7zsw/SyQbVJIV5tI/AAAAAAAABkc/NYpPhQmAINk/s576/148-TPolen-8771.jpg.
Another nice touch would be plaques describing points of interest and remarkable trees.
